Ice compression after shoulder surgery
After rotator cuff surgery or shoulder arthroscopy, your care team may include cold therapy in your home routine. Check with them before using cold compression.

The shoulder cuff
The shoulder cuff has long straps to keep it in place. Let us know which shoulder and what your care team has requested. Do not put pressure on the wound or disturb your dressings.
Use it sitting up
Sit in a supported chair with your arm resting as your care team advised. Ask someone to help fit the cuff if needed. It should feel secure, not tight. Keep your sling on or off only as instructed.
Keep your recovery plan
Cold may help with discomfort and swelling, but it is only one part of recovery. Follow your instructions about exercises and shoulder movement. Stop for burning, numbness, pain or an unexpected skin reaction.
