How to use PolarPulse
Keep the printed guide supplied with your rental nearby. These steps help with setup; your surgeon or physio decides your session time and settings.

Fill the machine
Switch the unit off before filling. Use the rear lid release to open the lid, then add ice and water to the marked fill lines without overfilling. Close the lid securely. Follow the supplied guide for water level and temperature.
Connect the hose
Connect one end to the port on the front of the machine and the other to the cuff. Make sure both connections are secure and the hose is not kinked.
Fit the cuff
Open the cuff and wrap it around the area. Fasten it securely, not tightly. The ankle cuff is L-shaped, the full-leg cuff is long and straight, and the shoulder cuff has long straps. Protect your skin and dressings as your care team directs.
Start and pause
Connect the power unit. Use only the temperature and compression settings your clinician and printed device guide recommend; do not automatically choose maximum cold. Press Start/Pause to start, and press it again to pause.
Session time and skin checks
Do not use a blanket two- or three-hour daily schedule. Follow your own care plan, take the advised breaks and check your skin. Burning, numbness or a skin colour change is a reason to stop, not a sign that it is working. Do not use it while asleep or on an area with reduced sensation without clinical guidance.
Before collection
Switch off and unplug. Use the supplied small white drain adapter as shown in the printed guide to empty water from the cuff. Pack the machine, cuff, hose, power unit and adapter into the carry bag.
