Ice compression after knee surgery
Recovering from an ACL procedure, meniscus surgery, arthroscopy or a knee replacement? Ask your care team whether cold compression fits your recovery plan.

Knee or full-leg cuff?
A knee cuff covers the knee area. A full-leg cuff covers a longer area of the leg. Tell us which your surgeon or physio recommends; we'll confirm the right cuff is available.
Cold and compression
Cold therapy may help ease pain and swelling after surgery. Compression needs to suit your procedure and wound dressings. It does not replace your exercises, medicine or follow-up appointments.
A routine at home
Set up the machine where you can sit comfortably. Keep the hose clear and your dressings dry. Use the session timing and settings in your care plan, with breaks and skin checks. Do not sleep with it running.
Rest with your leg supported
If your care team recommends elevation, support the leg so the ankle is above heart level where comfortable. Follow their instructions about knee positioning, exercises and how much weight you may put on the leg.
